Indications & Uses
Newly diagnosed Philadelphia chromosome-positive chronic myeloid leukemia (Ph+ CML), relapsed or refractory Ph+ CML, gastrointestinal stromal tumors (GIST), and hypereosinophilic syndrome.
Contraindications
Hypersensitivity to imatinib.
Side Effects & Warnings
Fluid retention, edema, cytopenias, severe congestive heart failure, left ventricular dysfunction, hepatotoxicity, and gastrointestinal hemorrhage.
Drug & Dietary Interactions
CYP3A4 inhibitors (ketoconazole, erythromycin) increase imatinib exposure; warfarin may have enhanced anticoagulation.
